Health is one of the most popular topics of conversation, web searches, and media content today. In particular, weight loss is a common priority for many, and it is also a common struggle. So, what are some methods to lose weight that actually work?

Counting Calories

The concept here is simple, which may be what makes it so appealing. If you eat more calories than you burn in a given day, you will gain weight. “Why Calorie Counting Still Works Best” at www.verywellfit.com states that creating a calorie deficit is the foundation of every diet.

Keto Diet

There are many popular diet or nutrition plans. One of the most discussed is the keto diet. Www.ketodash.com defines it as a “low carb, moderate protein, and high fat diet which puts the body into a metabolic state known as ketosis.” A simplified way of looking at it is when there is less carb intake, the body starts to feed off the stored fuel that is present. Consequently, weight loss occurs.

Exercise

There are strategic ways to approach exercise to foster weight loss. An example is HIIT (high intensity interval training). HIIT alternates brief periods of high intensity exercise with periods of recovery. During high intensity, the body enters an anaerobic stage. Muscle cells are deprived of oxygen which causes fatigue. We slow down to return to an aerobic stage. This affects the rate of metabolism.

Sleep

Lack of sleep lowers the hormone production that suppresses appetite while increasing the hormone that stimulates hunger. If you are sleep deprived, you are prone to eat more.

Eat Good Food

The function and appearance of our bodies is mainly tied to the types of food we eat. Natural foods are better for us, and there are also foods that should be avoided. Avoiding sugar is beneficial to overall health. This avoidance refers to added or refined sugar. Salt intake should also be monitored because salt causes water retention. Eating less salt will promote loss of water weight. Processed foods are known to be high in calories and contain many additives that our brains do not process as natural food. These unknown substances are then turned into fat.

One or all of these methods will work to help you lose weight, but consistency is the most important tool. Find a method that can be adopted as a lifestyle, and you will be on your way to a healthier, slimmer you.
